The Beatitudes

March 1, 2009

Blessed are the poor in spirit,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

(Those who are humble and devoid of pride in the recognition that everything they have comes from God)

Blessed are they who mourn,

for they shall be comforted.

(Those who are sorry for the wrongs they have done)

Blessed are the meek,

for they shall inherit the earth.

(Those who are kind and gentle)

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

for they shall be satisfied.

(Those who live with integrity)

Blessed are the merciful,

for they shall obtain mercy.

(Those who practice love, compassion and forgiveness)

Blessed are the pure of heart,

for they shall see God.

(Those who live with self-less intentions)

Blessed are the peacemakers,

for they shall be called children of God.

(Those who bring peace to themselves and others)

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

(Those who follow the Word, no matter what anyone else thinks)

Hole Bible, Matthew 5:3-10.
